Is it just us, or is it hot in here?
Who wouldn’t enjoy spending an evening in the company of shirtless firefighters — especially when it’s all in support of a good cause? The heat was on at last Thursday at Toronto’s XS Night Club, where more than 20 local firefighters took part in The Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation’s 14th Annual Toronto Firefighter Calendar Show, and the place was full of energy, excitement and anticipation.
A fundraiser for cancer research, this yearly event brings out hundreds of enthusiastic supporters. I joined the iNews team to check out the party. We arrived and met with the show’s host, 680 News personality Eva Fragiskatos, as well as the judges. I was definitely jealous of their job for the evening!
Leading up to the start of the show, the firefighting men and women were hanging around the venue, talking with the crowd and taking photos — and yes, shirts did come off. The guys seemed more than happy to get their photos taken. (Maybe practicing their calendar poses?)
Once the show got rolling, the ladies in the crowd were clearly primed for the sizzling entertainment of the night, as the firefighters competed for a spot in the calendar . The first act definitely set the bar pretty high, featuring as it did props, stripping, and even showering right on stage. As soon as that shower was unveiled, the screams began — and what better way to kick off the show? With many more great contenders and performances, the evening was a lot of fun.
Overall, the event was a fantastic way to raise awareness and support for the The Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation. Keep an eye out for next year’s Toronto Fire Fighter Calendar!
